Amsterdam police commissioner Hans Schönfeld says that judges should give harsher punishments to repeater criminals. Their punishment should focus on retaliation rather than prevention and resocialization. Schönfeld said that “by punishing in this way, one gives satisfaction to the victims and protects society.”
