Hundreds of Innocent Children in Jails

Ombudsman Alex Brenninkmeijer has said that more than 800 children in the Netherlands are sitting in jail although they have committed no crime. These children should be receiving treatment but there is no room for them in the clinics. Brenninkmeijer remarked: “I am ashamed of the Netherlands.” He added that the holding innocent children in jail is in opposition to the laws of human rights. He had already mentioned this problem four years ago.
